North Shore Healthcare Taps Darren Gee as New CEO

North Shore Healthcare has tapped Darren Gee as its next CEO.

Gee joined the North Shore team in January as its COO and has spent the last 30 years in the long-term care industry. North Shore operates 69 skilled nursing and assisted living facilities across three states.

Gee’s vision, passion, focus, communication and leadership skills will suit him well in his new position, according to former CEO David Mills.

“That’s the type of person that I think we really need in that role is [someone] that can not only set a vision, but can also help strategically motivate leaders within our organization and then ultimately execute on those areas that we know you know, are a priority for the company — and Darren absolutely possesses those qualities,” Mills said.

Prior to joining North Shore, Gee served as chief development officer for Prestige Healthcare and CEO at Everest Management Solutions. He has also served in leadership roles at Cornerstone Healthcare, SavaSeniorCare and SLC Professionals Capital.

Mills will remain an owner and partner with North Shore, according to the LinkedIn post, and will focus his future efforts toward advocacy and legislative priorities at the state and federal level.

“All too often … we’ve been too reactionary and too defensive versus being more proactive and identifying what our needs are and where the opportunities are, and then working collaboratively with policymakers and decision makers, to help us advance those efforts,” Mills said.

Mills told SNN that he and North Shore leadership have been discussing “for a very long time” about what can be done more proactively on the advocacy side of things, and Gee’s arrival to the company back in January served as a perfect opportunity to execute on that plan.
