Health System Hackensack Meridian Sells Majority of LTC Portfolio to Complete Care

New Jersey-based hospital system Hackensack Meridian Health has agreed to sell off a majority of its long-term care facilities to Complete Care Management, a family-owned and operated New Jersey-based provider.

The facilities being acquired include Hackensack Meridian Health nursing and subacute facilities located in Brick, Hackensack, Holmdel, North Bergen, Ocean Grove, Plainfield, Shrewsbury and Wall, as well as two assisted living facilities, Hackensack announced in a news release Tuesday.

The two entities will maintain a care collaboration agreement to ensure quality care for hospital patients and residents in a clinically integrated care continuum, the news release states.

“We are committed to ensuring a seamless transition with Complete Care and believe this ownership transfer will enhance the continuum of care of our patients and the well-being of our team members,” Hackensack Meridian Health CEO Robert Garrett said in the news release.

Back in August, Hackensack sent a letter to its nursing home residents announcing its interest in a potential sale.

Just two years prior the health system expanded its post-acute footprint when it acquired a trio of nursing homes – Prospect Heights Care Center and Regent Care Center in Hackensack and the West Caldwell Care Center in West Caldwell – in a $60 million deal.

Complete Care CEO Sam Stein said the agreement represented “perfect alignment” within the health care system for both parties.

Complete Care boasts an experienced management team that includes more than 4,000 staff members statewide.

A leading provider of subacute and long-term care, Complete Care operates SNFs throughout New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
