American Senior Communities Announces Steve Van Camp as New CEO

American Senior Communities announced Thursday that Steve Van Camp will become its new CEO effective June 1.

Van Camp will replace Donna Kelsey, who is expected to remain with the company as a senior advisor, ASC said in a press release.

“I am confident in Steve’s ability to keep delivering quality care as the top priority for the company,” said Kelsey. “He leads with passion and has a collaborative management style that will undoubtedly bring long-term value to the organization.”

Van Camp currently serves as Indiana-based ASC’s CFO, a role he has been serving for the last five years. Before joining ASC, Steve served as CFO of Consulate Health Care based in Atlanta.

He brings over 30 years of experience in operations and finance. Van Camp obtained his MBA from the University of Notre Dame and has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Manchester University. He is also a certified public accountant (CPA) and began his career at Ernst & Young.

Van Camp praised Kelsey, who served as ASC’s CEO for seven years, for her leadership.

“Donna has poured everything she has into making our organization successful during a very challenging time in health care,” Van Camp said. “She has championed some of the most effective initiatives our company has ever implemented.”

Under Kelsey, ASC added new benefits and technology to support employees, achieving a CMS Quality score above state and national averages, as well as attaining high levels of customer satisfaction, the company said.

In her new role as senior advisor, Kelsey will focus on leadership development and government advocacy for the senior care profession.

Mark Dice will replace Van Camp as CFO. Dice is a CPA and has been a finance leader for over seven years within ASC, the company said. He brings over 25 years of experience as a CFO and controller in the long-term care and pharmacy professions. He was a former audit manager at Ernst & Young.
