Maryland Nursing Home Adds Palliative Service Line

Orchard Hill Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, with the help of Brick, N.J.-based Marquis Health Consulting Services, on Tuesday introduced an in-facility palliative care service.

Marquis provides consulting services to Orchard Hill.

The Towson, Md. operator will have Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care manage the service line, Orchard Hill said in a statement. Currently, Orchard Hill is a 134-bed skilled nursing facility offering post-acute care, short-term rehab and long-term care.

In addition to its partnership with Seasons, Orchard Hill is also in the middle of a multi-million-dollar renovation, with upgrades including a 2,500-square-foot therapy gym, the facility said in its statement.

Seasons, founded in 1997, merged last year with AccentCare Company, which operates post-acute care facilities across 31 states. Palliative care is a care model designed for residents living with a serious, chronic or life-limiting illness. Care is centered around improving quality of care through relieving symptoms and stress.

“This new initiative reflects Orchard Hill’s continued emphasis on providing transformative skilled nursing services to meet area healthcare needs,” Nikki Gachot, regional director of market development for Marquis Health Consulting Services, said in a statement. “Orchard Hill has a great partner in Seasons, which is well known for its compassionate care.”
