Emory Healthcare and ProMedica Form New Skilled Nursing Joint Venture

ProMedica and Emory Healthcare are teaming up to design and build two skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers in the metro Atlanta area.

As part of the agreement, ProMedica will manage the day-to-day operations of Emory’s skilled nursing facility, Budd Terrace at Wesley Woods, beginning on Sept. 1. Emory will remain involved with quality performance and strategic planning initiatives, according to the press release.

Budd Terrace is expected to close once the properties are built, and patients and employees will transition to the new facilities.

“We are pleased to collaborate with ProMedica as we enhance and expand skilled nursing and rehabilitative services for those who need our care,” said Jonathan S. Lewin, CEO of Emory Healthcare. “Finding an organization that aligns with our values and missions to improve the health of the communities we serve was critical as we move forward.”

The new facilities will have private rooms and baths as well as “innovative therapy areas” aimed to get patients safely back into the community, according to the release. They are expected to take two years to build once regulatory processes are complete.

“Working with Emory Healthcare to bring innovative approaches to care that combine high tech with high touch, we seek to enhance the patient experience and improve health outcomes,” Randy Oostra, ProMedica’s president and CEO, said in a statement. “Together, we will offer a truly unique health care alternative in our community for those recovering from illness, injury or surgery.”
