Crown Healthcare Group Acquires Ohio SNF for $6.3M

Crown Healthcare Group acquired the skilled nursing facility Villa Springfield in Springfield, Ohio from Covenant Care, The Springfield News-Sun reported. Crown, which according to founder Fred Friedman, is six months old, has acquired other facilities in southwest Ohio, including the Versailles Health Care Center in Versailles and the Wright Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Fairborn.

Crown plans to develop an evaluation system for employees and offer annual raises; it declined to give an estimate of the planned investment to renovate the facility to the News-Sun.

The property, which has 110 certified beds according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Nursing Home Compare (CMS) site, was sold for about $6.3 million, the publication said, citing information from the Clark County Auditor’s office.

Former Indiana SNF Changes Hands

Open Arms Christian Ministries assumed ownership of the former 82-bed Lyons Health and Living Center in Lyons, Ind. on November 19, the Tribune Star reported. Plans for the facility under the management of Open Arms, a non-profit that provides housing and education among other services, have not been finalized. CarDon & Associates had operated the facility since 1986.

A task force team that includes OACM staff and board members, along with community representatives, will discuss various options for best uses.

Wisconsin SNF Gets $1M in Renovations

The Bethel Home in Oshkosh, Wis., has almost finished a $1 million renovation project, Oshkosh Northwestern reported. The upgrades included renovations to common areas, the lobby, furnishings, and carpeting.

The home is run by Oshkosh, Wis.-based Miravida Living, which operates independent living facilities, assisted living buildings, and SNFs.
