USDA Invests in SNFs in Montana and Minnesota

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will invest $501 million in 60 projects to improve health care infrastructure and services in rural communities throughout the country; two of the projects are SNFs, according to a press release from the department.

In one case, the Blackfeet Tribe will receive an $8 million loan to help build a 39-bed, long-term-care facility on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in northwestern Montana, the first phase of a planned 47-bed facility. The new, 27,079-square-foot facility will replace a smaller 47-year-old one, and will serve residents who are currently in facilities more than 60 miles from the community.

The Buffalo Lake Health Care Center, in Buffalo, Lake, Minn., will receive a $1.2 million loan to expand a 49-bed skilled nursing home and 16-unit assisted living center.  The renovations include a new entrance, four private rooms, office space, a therapy center, and a community room.
