$123 Million Senior Living Tower Planned in Milwaukee

St. John’s Communities is planning a 22-story community to replace its three-story, 74-unit nursing care and assisted living community in Milwaukee, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The nursing care and assisted living units will be housed on the tower’s lower floors and inside of a connected four-story building.

As planned, the towering community will have about 170 units and open in the spring of 2020, the senior living provider noted. The building will also contain a lecture hall and performance space, and two levels of underground parking.

The development’s architects are Eppstein Uhen and Blitch Knevel, while VJS Construction Services is the general contractor for the project.

Illinois Officials Approve New 92-Unit Nursing Home

The developers of a “deluxe” 92-unit skilled nursing facility (SNF) in Rochelle, Ill., have gotten the go-ahead from state officials, the Rochelle News-Leader reported.

The roughly $17.6 million, 64,000-square-foot facility will consist of a central building with up to four resident “neighborhoods” connected to it.

Construction could begin as early as spring of this year, depending on the weather. It’s estimated the new facility could open in the fall of 2019.

South Dakota Nursing Home to Grow

A nursing home in Philip, N.D., recently received approval to add 12 beds — a project that might also include renovations.

With the approval, Philip Health Services can increase its Philip Nursing Home to 42 resident units by early 2019, reported the Pioneer Review. The expansion project is expected to cost about $3 million.

Plan for Ohio Nursing Home Advances

A new nursing home and rehab center is coming closer to fruition in North Ridgeville, Ohio.

City planning officials approved a proposal to build the 85,370-square-foot, 103-suite facility, reported the Morning News-Journal. If all goes according to plan, workers could break ground on the facility this year and open it in the summer of 2019.

Florida Community Plots Expansion

A retirement community in Winter Park, Fla., is planning to expand with a three-story skilled nursing building, a one-story memory care building, a new one-story clubhouse, and 40 new villa units.

The Mayflower Retirement Community recently submitted requests for zoning and condition use, the Orange Observer reported. The community currently has 220 residential independent living apartments, 28 single-family independent villas, 31 assisted living units, and a 60-bed health center.

$100 Million Renovation Begins for Florida CCRC

Village on the Isle, a non-profit continuing care retirement community (CCRC), is now undergoing a huge new renovation.

The facility is adding 46 new independent living residences and a brand new health center with 64 skilled nursing units and a therapy gym as part of a $100 million makeover of its 16.5-acre campus in Venice, Fla., according to the Herald-Tribune.

Renovations Underway for Ohio SNF

Construction crews are now hard at work renovating the government-owned Riverview Healthcare SNF in Sandusky, Ohio.

The $10 million facelift will add 20 or 21 new assisted living units in two closed wings, according to the Sandusky Register. Other upgrades include a new “town center” area with a cafe, theater, and doctors’ offices.

Construction began in late December and is expected to last 20 to 22 months.

Pennsylvania Veterans’ Center Showcased Renovations

The Gino J. Merli Veterans’ Center in Scranton, Pa., on Jan. 7 invited members of the public to see its newly refurbished nursing units, according to a press release.

The facility, which is operated by the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), offers on-site medical and pharmacy services, physical and occupational therapy, and 24-hour nursing care.
