Lifespace Communities Location Near Chicago to Beef Up Skilled Nursing Wing

Oak Trace, a Lifespace community in Downers Grove, Ill., has announced plans for a $150 million redevelopment and expansion project, according to a press release.

The first phase of the redevelopment will include a new health center with 102 skilled nursing suites, 66 assisted living apartments, 28 memory support suites. Planned new amenities include multiple restaurants, a fitness center and spa, and an expansion of the library and auditorium.

Construction on the first phase of the project is slated to begin on Sept. 6 and finish in 2019. A planned second phase will add more than 150 residential living apartments.

Erickson Adding Skilled Nursing and Memory Care Building at Maryland CCRC

Construction is now underway for a $47.5 million skilled nursing and memory care building at Erickson Living’s Charlestown CCRC in Catonsville, Md. The new building, dubbed Wilton Overlook, will have 192 units and provide care for 207 residents, the company announced. The first phase of the three-phase project is expected to wrap up in April 2019.

As planned, the new building would include multi-purpose activity and programming spaces, a theater, living rooms, a salon, conference rooms, a game lounge, a library, and a card game room. The building will also include a courtyard.

The project is part of Erickson’s plan to to expand and renovate its existing assisted living, memory care, and nursing care residences and amenities at Charlestown.

Pennsylvania SNF Adding Two Dozen Private Rooms

A continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Derry Township, Pa., is expanding.

Loyalhanna Care Center is adding 24 private rooms to its skilled nursing facility, reports TribLIVE, a local news site. Workers are expected to wrap up construction on the new rooms next spring.

Ciena Completes $5 Million Rehab Unit at SNF Near Detroit

Ciena Healthcare recently unveiled a $5 million rehabilitation unit at St. Anthony Healthcare Center, a skilled nursing facility in the Detroit suburb of Warren, Mich.

The rehab center has 38 private suites, a dining room, and room for physical or occupational therapy, reports Crain’s Detroit Business.
